Welcome to Grace Montreal Church's website for Children's Ministry. This blog is to be a resource to the teachers for GMC Sunday school as well as for the parents of GMCKidz.

Currently, we are looking into how to best teach God's children through curricula. Please be praying for us during this discernment process.

We are always looking for more volunteers. Please keep this need in prayer, and read the information on the role on our blog to consider serving our community in this way!

Policies regarding Teachers

Policies regarding Teachers:
Requirements:
- A teachers is someone who is a member of GMC.

- Someone who is passionate about involvement in the discipleship and evangelization of GMC children. He/she has a vibrant walk with the Lord and is involved in GMC community.

-Someone who builds relationships with the children and parents at GMC, and is involved in the children's lives outside of the Sunday School lesson. He/she is in regular prayer for the ministry and the individual children.

- Can only serve once a month as we do not wish for them to compromise their spiritual health by missing Sunday service.

Program:
- The teacher should wait for the children at the back of the room as the offering is being collected, so that the children can meet him/her consistently in the same place, to head down together within the short time. A slide will go up with a musical cue just after the prayer for the offering.

-The Lesson: The Sunday school lesson continues until the end of the service (this includes announcements, communion, and the responsive song) unless the parent(s) have expressly requested that their child be brought upstairs earlier.
[This policy is for the benefit of the parents and general community who are worshiping corporately upstairs, and the children's growth and understanding of God's Word by partaking in Children's Ministry.]

- to rehearse your dialogue for the lesson, the songs and the memory verse/reference.

- be prepared for more kids and cater your lesson to the younger ones

[This policy is so that you do not run out of materials and have to make some of the kids sit out and since a younger child can follow an older one, but an older child will get bored and misbehave if he is under stimulated by an immature lesson.]

Expectations:
- Please do introduce yourself to the parents and children, indicating that you’re teaching that day and would love it if the kids could come to the back just after the offering.
[This will help get the kids to Sunday school quicker because they will know where to meet you, help the parents become more comfortable with the teachers, and help visitors find their way around more quickly.]

- to give at least one week's notice if you cannot do your class

- to clean-up after your class

- for continuity, each teacher should email all others to give an overview of the lesson on his/her week, including: how it went, what was the main lesson point, who was in attendance.

Suggestions:
- get the announcements from Jeni so that you do not miss out on important community announcements

- it is strongly suggested that during your teaching week, you have the SS room ready by 10:00am and engage in prayer with the church downstairs at 10:00am.

[This suggestion will help the leaders pray more effectively for the children and allow you to keep the whole service in corporate prayer.
